Film Screening
Friday, August 16, 2024
Screening:
7 - 8:30 PM PST
Main Gallery
Please RSVP for in-person and Zoom attendance.
Join us in the Bob Mizer Foundation’s main gallery for a screening of some of Mizer’s classic films from the late 1960s through to the 1970s. While previous screenings have been largely composed of all silent films, this August’s screening will showcase Mizer’s films with a new contemporary soundtrack made by local queer musician Everett Fisher. Fisher’s soundtracks capture and accentuate Mizer’s unique storytelling while bringing a unique sound of blended modern and retro beats.
The following films will be included in the screening (in order):
- The Naughty Fauns (N027)
- Witch Boys (W008)
- The Jewel Thief (J004)
- College Capers (C100)
- John Apache & Calvin Zwingli (A065)
Doors open at 6:30pm with a start time promptly at 7pm. The screening will be introduced by the foundation’s Head of Moving Images, Maxwell Sutter Zinkievich, and conclude with a panel Q&A with Fisher and Zinkievich.

Retro Film Revival
Recorded Friday, August 16, 2024
I've often been inspired by Mizer shorts, with some of his 1970s contemporaries like Fred Halsted and Wakefield Poole. The unique worlds they are able to build in their films allow for the free-flow of fantasy which is both impressive as it is enticing.
